The Ohio Association of Community Colleges Invests in the AmeriCorps Impact Suite

We’re excited to welcome the Ohio Association of Community Colleges as the newest organization to invest in the AmeriCorps Impact Suite. OACC’s 40 full-time AmeriCorps members serve as college completion coaches at community colleges statewide, helping students in developmental English, Math, and First Year Experience courses succeed and stay in school. The AmeriCorps Impact Suite will enable staff members to stop juggling Excel files and to spend far more time supporting members and improving the program year-round.

America Learns Tapped for New Wave of AmeriCorps Programs in Los Angeles & Philadelphia

The federal Corporation for National & Community Service has awarded three significant AmeriCorps grants to the City of Los Angeles and Youth Policy Institute, recruiting a new generation of volunteers and activists as part of YPI’s place-based approach to fighting poverty.  The AmeriCorps Impact Suite will be used to measure, monitor and advance the grants’ impact.   Here are the basic stats on the new effort: – 119 new full-time AmeriCorps members serving the youth and families of LA’s Promise Zone, Promise Neighborhood, and centers from Watts to Pacoima including a ground-breaking exchange with Philadelphia – Three major federal grants totaling…

Welcome to Operation AmeriCorps: NYC Community Schools Corps

We’re so excited to welcome the latest NYC-based AmeriCorps program to the America Learns community — the NYC Community Schools Corps. The NYC Community Schools Corps (NYCCSC), an Operation AmeriCorps program launched in partnership between NYC Service and the NYC Department of Education, is placing more than 150 corps members (a mix of AmeriCorps, VISTA, and NCCC members) into 128 Community Schools in high-need communities to serve as mentors, reduce absenteeism, and boost parent involvement. Welcome to the Shiprock Chapter of the Navajo Nation!

We’re so grateful to begin working with the Shiprock Chapter of the Navajo Nation. The Shiprock Chapter is launching a new AmeriCorps program with three core foci: – Connecting veterans with workforce development and education resources; – Improving 20 acres of land and river parkways; and – Developing four miles of river trails. As the main office lacks Internet access and phone service, the Chapter is taking advantage of the smart phone-optimized AmeriCorps Impact Suite to monitor its members’ progress and to stay connected with members throughout the year via text messages.

Welcome to TCAC!

We’re excited to welcome Tennessee’s Community Assistance Corporation as one of the latest organizations to invest in the AmeriCorps Impact Suite.  TCAC will use the Impact Suite with both of its AmeriCorps programs: Making Veterans Priority and Community Cares. Welcome to Reading Assist Institute!

We’re excited to announce that Reading Assist Institute in Delaware is among the latest organizations to invest in the AmeriCorps Impact Suite.  RAI will use the Impact Suite with its new AmeriCorps program, RAI Reading Corps, beginning this fall. RAI’s tutors work directly inside the schools with students with reading difficulties, usually in 1st through 3rd grades.  The organization focuses on the “mechanics of reading” with students who struggle to connect letters and their related sounds — ultimately impairing their ability to decode words and to read fluently.  Reading difficulties like these affect about 20 percent of all students in any classroom. We’re thrilled to welcome Civic Works to the community of national service programs using the AmeriCorps Impact Suite!
