Welcome to the UIC Center for Literacy and Project MORE!

We’re excited to welcome the University of Illinois at Chicago to the community of organizations using the AmeriCorps Impact Suite!  The University’s AmeriCorps program, Project MORE, helps parents of Head Start students to develop strategies that support their children’s early literacy skills. Project MORE’s AmeriCorps members are recruited from the community and are placed at Family Start Learning Centers (FAST) and the Chicago Center for Family and Community Leadership (CFCL).  In addition to an AmeriCorps monthly living allowance and an education award, Project MORE members gain valuable training and work experience through the program as GED and ESL tutors, computer instructors,…

We’re so excited to welcome another conservation-focused national service effort to the America Learns community! Meet Barnstable County AmeriCorps Cape Cod, a full-time residential service program committed to addressing the environmental- and disaster-related needs of Cape Cod and its fragile natural resources. Each year, up to 32 service-minded adults commit 11 months to responding to the needs of the community through hands-on service focused on Natural Resource Management (Land & Water Conservation), Disaster Preparedness and Response, Environmental and Community Education, and Volunteer Engagement. Welcome to the Azusa City Library!

We’re thrilled to announce that the Azusa City Library’s adult literacy program is now using the Education & Human Development Impact Suite! The Library offers two programs for adult learners: Free, 1-to-1 and small group tutoring for adults who speak English and want to improve their basic reading, writing and math skills. Trained volunteers tutor students once or twice a week, at a time convenient for both. Leamos, a free computer-based program for adults who speak Spanish but cannot read and write in Spanish. Welcome to Super Stars Literacy!

Super Stars Literacy in Oakland, California provides extended learning time intervention services to under-performing K-2nd grade students, helping them develop the literacy and social skills that are the foundation for future learning. Originally developed as a project of the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, the Super Stars Literacy program was launched at a single Oakland school in 2002 and became an independent non-profit in 2008. Today, the organization provides targeted literacy intervention to approximately 700 K-2nd graders at eight high-need schools in Oakland, Hayward, and Newark. American Red Cross Invests in the Impact Suite

This past July, the Corporation for National & Community Service awarded the American Red Cross with a $1+ million grant to launch the Red Cross Corps. The 80 Red Cross Corps AmeriCorps members will teach 60,000 youth about fire safety and emergency preparedness through The Pillowcase Project.  Sponsored by Disney, The Pillowcase Project is a Red Cross program that teaches students in grades 3 to 5 about personal and family preparedness, local hazards, and how to cope.  Upon completion of the program, students receive a pillowcase in which to build their personal emergency supply kit. Welcome to Operation UNITE!

Operation UNITE works to rid communities of illegal drug use through undercover narcotics investigations, coordinating treatment for substance abusers, providing support to families and friends of substance abusers, and educating the public about the dangers of using drugs. UNITE’s goal is to educate and activate individuals by developing and empowering community coalitions to no longer accept or tolerate the drug culture. Welcome to the Monterey County Office of Education!

We’re so excited to welcome the Monterey County Office of Education to the America Learns community.  The Office’s AmeriCorps program, Monterey County United for Literacy, will be using portions of the AmeriCorps Impact Suite. MCUL’s mission is to ensure that every elementary school student is reading well and independently by the end of third grade.  The program’s AmeriCorps reading tutors meet daily with students to teach reading and engage in literacy building activities. Monterey County is now the first county in the nation to invest in the Impact Suite for both adult literacy programs (through the county library system) and child-focused programs (through MCUL).

Welcome to Youth Action Project!

The Youth Action Project is a non-profit organization that works to empower San Bernardino, California youth to develop the skills and habits needed to experience economic and social success. The organization’s work is intended to bring positive change by helping local youth graduate from high school, complete college or vocational training, develop work skills, and make responsible choices. We’re grateful for YAP’s decision to begin using all aspects of the AmeriCorps Impact Suite, from the new Member Management module, to the Timesheets and Data modules.   Learn more about the organization’s work.

Welcome to Great Oaks Charter Schools!

We’re so pleased to welcome Great Oaks Charter Schools to the community of organizations using the AmeriCorps Impact Suite. Great Oaks launches and supports charter schools that prepare students for college success through high-dosage tutoring. The Great Oaks Tutor Corps — the organization’s AmeriCorps program — recruits the best and brightest college graduates from across the U.S. to dedicate a year of service to urban students. During their one-year commitment, tutors work full-time, providing one-on-one and small group instruction to Great Oaks Charter School students. Match Education Invests in the Impact Suite

  After winning a grant during the exceptionally-competitive 2015 AmeriCorps grant cycle, Match Education launched an 186 AmeriCorps member Education Award program to provide high-dosage, small group tutoring to low-income students in three states — Massachusetts, Louisiana, and California.  Members also foster family engagement through weekly communication with parents and guardians. Match recently decided to invest in the AmeriCorps Impact Suite’s timesheet module for the upcoming 2016-17 program year.  The organization is moving to the Impact Suite after trying out a different solution during its first year of operations.
