After piloting the Timesheets and Communications components of the AmeriCorps Impact Suite this past year, the Washington Service Corps and Washington Reading Corps have decided to invest in both component for all 715 of their members.  We’re honored to have earned the trust of these two incredible teams. About the Washington Service Corps The Washington Service Corps (WSC) was created by the Washington State Legislature in 1983 to give young adults 18 to 25 years old opportunities to serve their communities.  The federal government created a similar program — AmeriCorps — 11 years later.  WSC places more than 500 AmeriCorps members with…

4,000 Jumpstart Corps Members are Joining the America Learns Community

This summer, 4,000 Jumpstart Corps Members will be joining the America Learns community. Jumpstart, one of the nation’s premier early childhood education and national service organizations, employs a research-based, cost-effective program that develops children’s language and literacy skills across eight states. After piloting our AmeriCorps-compliant timesheet service in 2012-13, the organization has decided to invest in the service for 4,000 of its AmeriCorps and non-AmeriCorps Corps Members. This relationship is especially exciting for us as both Jumpstart and our organization have shared roots —  both organizations received early-stage funding from Echoing Green.

A Warm Welcome to California Veterans Corps

We’re so excited to welcome the new California Veterans Corps (CalVet Corps) program to the America Learns Network community! For those who have served in our country’s military, transitioning back into civilian life can be a very challenging process: What services are available to help? What career is available next? CalVet Corps will help ease this transition and connect Los Angeles-area veterans with the support they have earned. CalVet Corps is being led by the Weingart Center in Los Angeles, which we’ve been working with on another AmeriCorps program of theirs for some time. Welcome!
