We’re so excited to welcome the Illinois Bar Foundation to the America Learns community!The Foundation administers Illinois JusticeCorps, which places college and law student volunteers in courthouses to help people without lawyers navigate the judicial system.Originally established as a pilot program in Cook and McLean Counties by The Chicago Bar Foundation and the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice, JusticeCorps has proven to be a valuable program to help unrepresented litigants obtain the assistance they need to address vital civil legal problems.JusticeCorps is using the Communicate and Timesheets components of the AmeriCorps Impact Suite.

Welcome to America Reads – Mississippi!

We’re thrilled to announce that America Reads – Mississippi (ARM) has joined the the America Learns community! ARM is one of the nation’s longest-standing national service programs.  During the 2014-15 program year, it’s launching a new, deeply-intentional and focused strategy to ensure that the elementary school-aged students it will reach develop the literacy skills they need to succeed in school. Welcome to the Confluence Environmental Center!

We’re honored to begin serving the Confluence Environmental Center’s AmeriCorps Program in Portland, Oregon. Confluence members provide critical environmental services to low-income communities.  The program’s projects focus on three areas: – Energy and resource conservation; – Healthy watersheds; and – Environmental, garden and farm-based education. Confluence is the fourth organization operating in Oregon to join the America Learns community.

Welcome to Wisconsin Farm To School!

We’re psyched to welcome Wisconsin’s AmeriCorps Farm to School program to the America Learns community! Based out of Wisconsin’s Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, the program works to decrease childhood obesity by promoting healthy eating habits in students and by increasing access to local foods in schools.  Since 2008, AmeriCorps Farm to School has partnered with 17 host sites and placed more than 75 service members throughout the state.  AmeriCorps members build relationships with local farmers and help to address needs in food distribution, processing and pricing.  Members also develop and implement curricula and wellness plans that teach…

Welcome to the American Red Cross California Safe Corps!

We’re thrilled to welcome the American Red Cross’s California Safe Corps to the America Learns community! The California Safe Corps — headquartered in the Los Angeles region — provides vital emergency assistance to communities affected by disaster and increases preparedness in the areas of greatest need before disasters strike by educating underserved, vulnerable, and special needs communities, and by recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers in disaster services activities. We’re so excited to welcome the New York City Coalition Against Hunger (NYCCAH) to the America Learns community!  The organization’s AmeriCorps*VISTA program is investing in all components of the AmeriCorps Impact Suite. NYCCAH, in conjunction with some of the nation’s most effective and innovative nonprofit organizations, is beginning its fourth year of the Anti-Hunger and Opportunity Corps (AHOC), a 32-state, 128-member VISTA project sponsored by the US Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service and the Walmart Foundation. Welcome to the Leon County Schools!

We’re excited to welcome the Leon County Schools’ AmeriCorps program, AmeriCorps Tallahassee, to the AmeriCorps Impact Suite community! AmeriCorps Tallahassee members assist Leon County Schools’ improvement efforts at Title I Schools through targeted and customized services including academic tutoring and mentoring.  The targeted services provided by members are designed to impact: – School attendance rates; – Statewide and district assessment performance; and – Disciplinary actions and gang-related activity. Welcome to the City and County of Denver!

We’re so excited to begin working with Denver Human Services’ AmeriCorps program, Community Building Partnering for Youth in Transition! CBPYT engages AmeriCorps members to mentor youth who are currently transitioning out of foster care, homelessness, and other systems of care.  The program’s mentors work out of community agencies across the Front Range, where they serve for about 38 hours weekly.
